Flood Insurance

Many regions of the U.S. do not frequently flood and hence flood insurance is not usually necessary. But if you live near sea-level or close to a large river or other body of water, it may be just the ticket. Besides you can never be too careful.

There are many different types of floods which can vary between simple seasonal floods to the catastrophic flood of a dam breaking. Flooding can even be caused by other natural disasters such as a hurricane. In regions were floods happen often, the bodies of water are carefully regulated. But accidents can still happen and flood insurance will protect you.

If you feel there's a chance a flood might strike your home, then it would probably be a wise investment to look into. Nobody can plan for an act of god but if you have flood insurance you can at least cover your losses. Even a minor flood can cost thousands of dollars in damage to a home in a very short time, so it's something to think about.
