What is the most common natural disaster?

Flooding is the most common natural disaster because it can happen anywhere there is water. Water covers most of the Earth and where it doesn't cover it falls as precipitation. Further the Earth is not level and when there is precipitation, the water always wants to flow downwards and then level itself. For this reason flood insurance can be particularly hand to have.

What type of insurance has emerged in the last ten years?

In the last ten years, terrorist insurance has mushroomed in popularity. Surprisingly, this has not only happened in the U.S. but worldwide. It seems that the changing world climate of global terrorism has created an entirely new form of insurance.

 Who can get terrorist insurance?

At this time, only commercial properties can get terrorism insurance. Yet the insurance companies are in the process of developing it for the private sector. For the first three years after 9/11 the government committed to covering all terrorism until insurance companies could create the underwriting necessary to codify it.
